BACKGROUND

Founder

Bernadine Anderson
Founder and Director of Bridge2Peace.

A qualified Montessorian, with a Diploma in Psychology and a Masters in Education from the University of Hartford, USA. The founder and Head of School of La Petite Fleur Montessori House of Children and its primary school – LPF Academy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a school with a difference, which has upheld the tradition of Montessori education in Sri Lanka for well over a decade with many innovative educational programs to its credit. Currently residing in the US, she jointly owns and operates the Farmington Academy Montessori in Farmington, Connecticut, which has a Montessori program from Toddler Group to Middle School. Her  DREAM is to make early education accessible to all children in Sri Lanka and to build a high standard ‘Model’ for early education which could be used in every village and to initiate a dynamic teacher training program in Sri Lanka.
 

Co-founders

Amali Tower

A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied International Development Studies, focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. Her focus of studies is a result of her travels and global humanitarian interests. Amali's travels have taken her to over 30 countries around the world, and some of her humanitarian and relief work were conducted in South Africa and Zambia, where she campaigned for treatment and debt relief for the AIDS pandemic and debt crisis ravaging Sub-Saharan Africa; Lima, Peru, where she taught English to underprivileged children; Chiang Mai, Thailand to work with Burmese refugees; and most recently in Sri Lanka with Bridge2Peace. Amali's studies have also taken her to Geneva, Switzerland, where she twice studied under the auspices of the United Nations, and attained the International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance. Amali has been awarded the California State Award from the California League of Colleges for her humanitarian work and efforts with Bridge2Peace. In addition to her work with Bridge2Peace, she is presently working with The International Rescue Committee, providing relief to global refugees, political asylees, and victims of trafficking and torture who have been resettled in the Los Angeles region.
 

Nientara Anderson

A co-founder and a Director of Bridge2Peace, was born in Queens, New York, but spent most of her growing up years in Sri Lanka. After studying art for two years at Cooper Union in NY, she transferred to Yale, where she completed her B.A. She spent her entire summer of 2005 in Lunugamvehera helping establish Bridge2Peace, burning a path where none existed.

Her main interests are painting, sculpture, nature documentaries and genetics. She currently lives in Jackson, Mississippi, on an organic farm where she is painting and working on kidney research. She is a life member and a volunteer for Bridge2Peace.

 

Nalin De Silva

A retired Group Captain of the Sri Lanka Airforce with 25 years of defense service which, involved regiment and special operations. He is a keen sportsman and a qualified instructor to conduct lectures on sports on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He captained the Airforce Defense Services & Sri Lanka Rugby Teams and represented the country in Asian Games Rugby Tournaments & Cathy Pacific International Sevens on five occasions. He is presently employed as the Group General Manager of Scanwell Group of Companies in Sri Lanka. He is also a co-founder and a Director of Bridge2Peace.
