As the pictures tell the story, the teachers and parents of the B2P schools in Lunugamvehera  and Diyatalawe gave awareness and celebrated the festival of Thai Pongal on the 16th of January 2024. The children and teachers both dressed up in traditional clothes to add colour to the occasion. They spent the day drawing and colouring Kolam on the floor of the stage and even made their own Pongal rice for snack! Our vision ‘Peace Through Education’ was shared across the village.

Empowering Our Teachers Through Specialized Training – 2023

At Bridge2Peace, we are committed to providing the best possible education to the children we serve. To further this mission, we are thrilled to share a recent development that demonstrates our dedication to quality teaching.

A group of three passionate educators from our Bridge2Peace school in Lunugamvehera had the incredible opportunity to undergo an intensive two-week training and familiarization program in Early Years Education at the La Petite Fleur Schools in Ratmalana and Dehiwala.

During this enriching experience, they received personalized training in the Montessori Philosophy and LPF Ethos. Our very own LPF trainers, Ms. Vasugi and Ms. Ifraza, provided one-on-one guidance, and the teachers had the unique opportunity to move beyond learning from textbooks and theory, and put their learning into practice in real classroom settings.

We believe that the knowledge and skills they have acquired will play a vital role in elevating the teaching standards at our Lunugamvehera school, ultimately improving their service to the child.

Take a peek at some snapshots capturing the enthusiasm of our teachers during their training.

An Inspiring Visit to the B2P School in Mullaitivu

Recently, Aunty Berni, along with Ms. Vasugi and dedicated volunteer teachers, embarked on a transformative journey to our Bridge2Peace school in Mullaitivu. Over four days, they engaged in enriching training sessions with our local teachers.

Their visit extended its impact beyond our school’s walls when they were invited by the Assistant Director of Pre schools in Mulativu to conduct an Early Years Training workshop. This workshop saw 30 teachers from the area coming together to enhance their skills.

While in Mullaitivu, our dedicated LPF teacher trainers collaborated with B2P teachers and the children, making the visit incredibly rewarding.

We’re immensely grateful for the generous support from the Indian Ladies Association, whose donation helped make this training initiative possible. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizers for their kind gesture.

The attached pictures provide a glimpse of this heartwarming journey.
