Moratuwa

This bustling suburb south of Colombo city is where Prem Niwasa, or House of Love was established by the Missionaries of Charity in Sri Lanka and it’s just one of their homes for orphans which are popularly referred to as Mother Teresa’s Homes.

Tides of Compassion

For over two decades, Bernadine Anderson and the LPF Schools have supported and assisted the eminently laudable mission of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta and her order of sisters. The LPF Schools’ communities are among some of the most faithful of the support network for Prem Niwasa, through visits, donations, and special projects to ameliorate the lives of the young children and babies sheltered and cared for by the Nuns. The class named for Mother Teresa at LPF Academy Dehiwala takes pride in their on-going connection with the Home.

The Establishment of an Early Years Classroom

In 2020 with a special fundraising drive, the creation of a Early Years classroom within the premises, completely equipped with materials and furniture changed the life of the school-going students there, helping them to gain not only the 3 R’s but more purpose, focus and social skills.

The adults who take charge of the early education of the 25-30 children are trained and employed by the LPF Schools Further, a group of 6-8 students are welcomed to the La Petite Fleur House of Children in Ratmalana, as the larger school community is acknowledged to be greatly beneficial to the children. Their entire experience, from shoes to caps, bags & bottles to snacks and transport, is sponsored.
